Personal Statement
My name is Joseph Brettman and I am from Evergreen Park, IL, a Southwest suburb of Chicago. In seventh grade I saw my first lacrosse game, and was so engaged that I signed up for a lacrosse camp run by St. Rita of Cascia High School the following summer. I was originally unable to join a league due to my commitments to baseball, but almost immediately after buying a stick just to play with I fell in love with the sport. Upon attending St. Rita of Cascia High School in the Fall of 2011, I decided to play soccer and lacrosse my freshman year. I was very excited to finally be able to play lacrosse not only on a real team, but at the high school level. My freshman season, I started on the team as a Face Off/Midfielder. As my interest in the sport grew during the season, I joined the travel team Ante Up Lacrosse (Coached by Tim Duffy). We played in a few tournaments over the summer of 2012 (Including Tri-State NJ and Hofstra Blue & Gold New York) and one in the Fall (Ithaca Turkey Shootout). Even though I have not played lacrosse for long, I am currently starting my sophomore lacrosse season on varsity. I know that I have what it takes to play on an extremely competitive team. I am a hard working, motivated athlete and I am looking for a program where I can use those attributes to contribute to a successful season. Currently, my biggest goal in the future is to play lacrosse on a college level, where I can both play for a school I am proud to be a part of, as well as spend my college years doing what I love and challenging myself.
UPDATE:(September 1st,2013). My travel team[Ante Up Chicago] and I traveled to Tri-State, Hofstra B&G, and the Notre Dame Team Camp. At tri-state we finished 1-2 with 2 1/2 rained out games. At Hofstra and Notre Dame we finished 5-0 going undefeated in both. I traveled to Towson University in Towson, MD. to play in Top205. My team went 3-2 and I started at left attack.
