Thank you for looking at my recruiting profile. My name is Aaron Mazzola, I will graduate from Somers HS in Somers, NY in 2014 and soccer is my passion.
I am a dedicated, hard-working team player both on the field and off and am looking for a school where I can find the right balance and achieve maximum results in both the classroom and soccer. As a recognized leader amongst my coaches, teams and fellow students, I would like to pursue a university with an outstanding academic reputation in the field of Sports Management so that I can continue my dream of working within the world of professional sports after receiving my degree.
After a devastating ACL tear in November, 2012, I am back on the pitch and I have the privilege of being able to go to Italy to train with Empoli FC for January and February, 2014. In Italy, I hope to further my understanding of the European clubs, train with some of the best young players and immerse myself in the Italian culture. I will continue my regular schooling while in Italy and will be including my amazing experience as part of my WISE program project.
Ideally, my athletic environment would be one where I could make an immediate impact on the team. I believe that my greatest strengths as a soccer player are my focus and ability to read the game, my physical style of play, my communication and how I can create offensive opportunities from a defensive position. I've worked extremely hard to attain top-level soccer skills and excellent physical conditioning. I have been told that I have superior composure on the ball and my 'keep it simple' style of play helps me demonstrate my overall balance as a back and versatility as mid.
Some of my proudest moments and strongest alliances have been forged on the soccer field, which I hope to be able to continue in my college career. Thank you again for reviewing my profile and I hope to learn more about your school and soccer program to see if we would be a good fit for each other.
