I am currently 17 years old and am in my senior year at Cumberland HS in Rhode Island. In 6th grade, I was on the U12 MLS Revolution Development Academy team through Bayside FC so couldn’t play on the middle school team. I played in 7th and 8th grade for North Cumberland Middle School, was the starting goalkeeper both seasons. In 7th grade, we made it to the final four semifinals in the state. I made the Cumberland High School soccer JV team as a freshman GK in a year when they had 15 seniors on Varsity and cut 24 freshmen. My sophomore season, we were D1 JV State Champs. We beat LaSalle in the semis in PK’s, where I saved the 4th and 5th shots, and then saved the 10th round shot to win it. In the finals vs Bishop Hendricken, I saved all three of the first PK’s, including the third top left shot, to win it. Named MVP by the coaches. My junior year, I made varsity and started 10 of the 17 games over the senior keeper. In my senior year, I am the starting goal keeper and hope to have a great season with my team.
Before my high school years, I had always attended three goalkeeper elite RDS clinics through the MLS Revolution every year to specifically train with goalkeepers throughout the year in addition to my normal school and club soccer training and about 12 weeks of strength and conditioning training each winter with my CLP United team. I currently have specific goalkeeper training for 16 weeks in the winter led by a college GK coach (from Franklin Pierce/Bryant University) and 12 weeks of speed and agility with my club team at Athletes Acceleration. My foot skills, distribution and command of the field are very good, I have the respect and confidence of my teammates and I really like being vocal on the field to keep our team organized and on the same page. I am also a captain on our club team. Our club team first played in the New England Premiership league against the top level groups of club teams in the region and now joined the New England Club Soccer League (NECSL). We finished first in the top u16 division last Spring. We also compete in the premier level tournaments and will continue to do the college showcase tournaments moving forward. In addition, I had the opportunity to play in the Azores, Portugal, two years in a row in a tournament, which was a great experience to the global aspect of the game. I also have been playing futsal with my club team since I was 7 years old to continue to help with my footwork and speed of the game, and continue to qualify and compete at Northeast Regionals in Atlantic City, NJ each February.
I am a good student and haven’t yet decided decided on my major. I have also participated in school Ski Club, high school and club lacrosse, and town flag football. I volunteered three summers giving back to our community of Goalkeepers by helping run a week long 3 hour per night goalkeeper training with the coach. I have been a state soccer referee for the last five years too.
I would love the opportunity to continue playing soccer at a high level in college, while also working towards my academic degree.
