Personal Statement
...and then the unimaginable happened. This past summer (2016) I focused on swimming and decided not to play soccer. I was working with a trainer twice a week, in the pool 5 days a week, changed club teams to work on my technique, and the night before my first meet, on October 1st, I fell down the stairs and fractured my olecrenon. Yes, I broke my elbow! A plate and 4 screws later, I was told my season was most likely over. But I would not accept that! I was able to get back in the water the last day of October, but only to kick. So I kicked, and kicked and kicked for weeks. I was able to start half practices the end of November and swam in my first meet in the middle of December. I have worked hard in my high school practices as well as on my club team. To this date, I have PR'ed in three events, the 50free, 100free, and 100fly. I have qualified for states in my 100free and 100fly and for YMCA nationals in the 100free. I continue working hard to attain my goal of eventually swimming in college, all despite, and maybe because of, the unimaginable!!!
