Personal Statement
Hello! My name is Conner Ybaben and I am excited that you have taken the time to view my profile. I am currently a Senior at Saint Joseph Catholic High School in Ogden, Utah. I have played for the Jayhawks tennis team all four years and am currently playing in the 1st Singles position. I was voted in as our Team Captain and am honored to play alongside some amazing teammates since I began playing tennis competitively.
The past two years I have played at the varsity level and have had the privelege to play competitors that have challenged me to do my best at every match. This year our tennis team changed our classification from a 2A team to a 3A team. This has allowed us the opportunity to play a broader variety of tennis teams. Currently, I am 2-0 preseason and 1-1 regular season. I am working with a new coach this year, Coach Gary Griffenhagen. I have found his experience in coaching to be an asset for me to better my game in my senior year of playing. We have worked on strengthening my serves as well as ball placement and footwork drills.
In the past seven years of playing tennis I have had a variety of coaches work with me on improving my tennis game. One of my greatest strengths is my ability to take direction from my coaches and make the necessary adjustments to keep learning,growing and improving my game. I have worked with both female and male coaches learning as much as I can from all of theiir past tennis experiences and expertise. I look forward to gaining more knowlegde from my future coaches at the college level!
In the past four years, I have had the opportunity to play at the UHSAA Boys' State Tennis Tounament as a Singles player. I have learned to appreciate my opponents' strentgths as well as demonstrate my abilities to all I played against. I look forward to an even more successful UHSAA Tennin Tournament at the end of my Senior year as well as continuing to play the sport of tennis at the college level and doing my best for the college I represent!
