I'm very passionate about volleyball and would love to pursue it at a high level, while attending a school with rigorous academics. I started playing when I was nine years old, and I fell in love and knew it is what I wanted to pursue in athletics. I believe I'm a good fit for the setting position because I enjoy the challenges and quick decision making involved. As a natural leader, captain of my club team, I take on many responsibilities. I am very supportive of others and like to help my teammates in any way I can. That being said, I'm a driven and a hardworking individual who will always give 100%. I expect the same commitment from my teammates and coaches. I have learned through training and experience and from my school coach that mental toughness and court smarts is equally as important as the physical aspects of the game. Whenever the team is down or someone makes a mistake, I make sure to use words of encouragement. It is important to be in the moment and forget about the last point or set. I personally focus on having a positive attitude when I or my teammates make mistakes on the court. This is one of my best character traits. I am known for my consistency, especially with my serve. I am also even-tempered on the court and do not get rattled even when the game is on the line.
I'm just as passionate about academics as I am about volleyball. Though I do not yet know what majors I'm interested in, I am interested in a school with high academics. I have 4.42 GPA (weighted) and a 4.0 (unweighted), while attending a very challenging high school that a few years ago was rated as one of the top 50 hardest high schools in the country. I am a very focused on academics and take many AP and honors classes.
In addition to my academics and volleyball I also give back to the community by tutoring math, and helping my mom lead the Bull Terrier Rescue for the State of Utah. At eleven years old I started a purse and female toiletry drive, that first year I created over 50 kits to hand out to local homeless women. I partnered with the local charity soap2hope where they continue the tradition of giving out purses and bags with much needed items several times a year, which has grown to over 400 kits for both men and women every year. I continue to help raise donations supporting the charity and the homeless population in the Salt Lake City area.
