I am a junior at Abraham Lincoln High School. I have been an Honor Roll student all three years of high school and will continue to strive for academic excellence, as it is one of my main priorities. As part of my high school experience, I play basketball and run cross country and track. Sports, and especially basketball, are a great way to make strong connections with teammates and coaches since everyone is working toward the common goal of being successful.
In my second year of being basketball co-captain, I have learned many attributes that a leader must possess. I have learned how to be more vocal on the court. This is crucial since communication is the key to collaboration. The skills of working with others are applicable not only in basketball, but in school as well. Other important skills I have are focus and dedication. Dedication is very important to me because when I commit to do something, then I fully commit to it.
In college, I want to study international relations. I have always loved to travel, but what most interests me about this major is the possibility of working in both English and Spanish, since I am bilingual. I want to continue playing basketball after high school to add to my overall college experience.
