Personal Statement
I have played and been dedicated to soccer since I was 5. I am the only remaining player from the original Bay Oaks U9 team! I have played Class 1 soccer for the past 10 years. I am the starting center back (sometimes defensive mid) for the East Bay United Bay Oaks Bombers '95. This past season I was asked to guest play for one of the top Nationally ranked teams, Bay Oaks Botafogo U19 team! This 2014-2015 season in high school, I am a Varsity Team Captain and the starting Center Back where I can showcase my speed, vision and perfect touch passing skills. (On 12/18-20 we placed 2nd in the Tri Valley Classic in Danville, Ca. We lost a tight match 1-0 to Monte Vista, #1 HS team in the nation!) This year I was named "Defensive Player of the Year 2015" for my HS team as well as All League Second Team! I graduate from Bishop O'Dowd High School in Oakland, CA in 2015.
I also ran Varsity X-country and Varsity Track (the 400 and 800) on my high school team my freshman and sophomore years, in addition to playing soccer for my high school and club teams. My freshman year I was awarded the only Female MVP for the frosh/soph XC team. But soccer is my passion. I now dedicate all my time and energy to the sport I love.
I would love the opportunity to use my soccer skills (enhanced by my running skills) to play in college. I know I have heart, focus, intensity, loyalty, spirit and skills to enhance a soccer program at the college level. I have made many sacrifices for soccer and know the commitment it takes to play at the next level. My dream would be to play for a college program that could use my defensive skills such as speed, ball skills, vision and the ability to play on both sides. I want a program that will teach me more about myself as an athlete while getting a degree in business at the same time. I am Lifetime Active member of the California Scholarship Federation (CSF) and have received the award for Scholar Athlete every semester since I started sports in high school. This past semester I took AP and Honors classes and I obtained a 4.0 semester GPA!
