Personal Statement
I have been playing soccer since I was two years old. I want to keep playing for a long time and continue to learn and grow as a player. I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t running around with a soccer ball. I am near the end of my first semester of my senior year in high school and earned a 4.5 GPA this past spring semester. I am excited to continue my club team's National Premier League season while also preparing for my last San Diego Surf College Showcase at the end of November 2021, looking to repeat another Surf Championship win!
Soccer is a fun way for me to compete, and make friendships with teammates. I love the sport of soccer because it pushes me to work my hardest to succeed. But still, sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. Soccer is challenging. This is the reason why people who love it, love it. Soccer has taught me that if I set my mind to it, I am the most competitive person on the field. I’ve learned that if you have this mindset, I can be the most effective player on the field.
Outside of sports, I enjoy baking, spending time with my friends and family, and giving back to my community. I really only have time for friends and family on school breaks because, with juggling school, soccer, and volunteer work as a member of the National Charity League, I don’t have much free time. The schedule I keep helps me grow strong time management skills and I use them in my everyday life, especially with school and soccer. At school, I like to take challenging classes, and I am determined to make sure that I can manage them.
I want to continue challenging myself throughout high school and college in the classroom and on the field. Overall, even though I pack my schedule full of sports, school, and family, I am a pretty balanced person, and I find time for it all. Another trait that helps me achieve all of my activities is my mindset of hard work and effort. I portray this mindset on and off the field, and it makes me a better person.
