Personal Statement
My name is Sarah Blumenfeld, and I have been playing volleyball since I was 8. My main positions are setter and DS, but I have also played outside hitter for my high school varsity team.
I was thrilled to have received honorable mention as a freshman varsity starter. I was also named All-City Second Team as a sophomore on the varsity team, and was our starting outside hitter, while maintaining a 4.0 GPA. In the Fall, my high school team came in a close second in the City Championship. It was a very exciting experience with 14 amazing players and an awesome coach. I was very proud to be a part of this team and am looking forward to an even more amazing junior year.
I started my club season as a setter with Encore Navy 16-1 and am looking forward to an exciting and competitive season with my new teammates.
My best qualities as an athlete are hard work, drive, commitment and adaptability. I also consider myself to be very ambitious and passionate in all aspects of life and especially volleyball. I am super energetic and fun-loving. I get along with everyone. While volleyball is my passion, I love science and working with children. I currently volunteer as a Teen Advocate for Science at the California Academy of Science working with young children to stimulate their interest in science. I also volunteer at California Pacific Medical Center helping patients feel comfortable.
The many experiences I have had through volleyball have made me a stronger and better person. One of my goals is to continue playing volleyball in college. I know that my versatility, dedication and enthusiasm will help me be an important asset to my team.
