Personal Statement
I’ve wanted to play volleyball in college ever since I was in the third grade. I’ve also always wanted to go to college and become a successful woman. I’ve decided in the past two years that I wanted to be a Business major,minoring possibly in Public Relations or Communications. Another option I'm considering is going the pre-med route and going on to become a doctor. I aspire to graduate from college and work diligently, and eventually get married and have a family. I’m different from your average high school girl. I’ve always been very sure of myself, always knowing exactly what I want. I know that more than anything, I want to play volleyball in college. I know this is not only achieved through talent, but through academics and character. Academically, I’m at the top of my game so to speak. I’ve made straight A’s all the way from Junior High till now. My unweighted GPA is a 3.98 and I’m enrolled in challenging honors and AP classes. Just getting by in school has never been good enough for me, I want, no I need to do my absolute best in every class that I take. There have been classes that I’ve taken in my high school career that really challenged me to the point of second guessing myself, but I took the extra steps to make sure that I not only did well, but excelled in them. As far as character goes, you’re not going to find many, if any girls like me. I’ve always been the type of girl who’s compassionate towards others, always wanting to help and do everything I can for them. I do the right thing, even when no one’s watching because that’s how I was raised; you put others before yourself. This is shown in my everyday life. While other teenagers, people I know, go out and party on the weekend. I’m at a volleyball tournament or clinic,I'm at church or at a study group, I’m volunteering or at the library. In life and on the court it’s necessary to believe in one another, to build each other up instead of tearing each other down. When you’re out on the court and you’re playing a team that is supposedly much better than you, you can’t go in with your head down; you have to spread positivity and encouragement to yourself and your team. My faith has sincerely helped with this. I’m a catholic teenager that goes to mass every weekend, volunteers at the church, sings in the choir and I’m proud of it. Being catholic and attending Catholic School has really helped me to see how blessed I am and how thankful I am for everything that I have, including my talent in the sport of volleyball. I’m a great choice for any college team because not only am I a talented player and thankful to God for it, but I’m a hard worker who’s going to do my best academically and make to graduation. I have been selected as well to the 2014 Missouri Academic All-State Volleyball Team
