Personal Statement
Hi, I'm Lexi McLanahan and I have been playing volleyball for as long as I can remember. As an 8 year old, my parents would drop me off at our local YMCA, where I learned to play volleyball from Sen Thach. Little did I know as a small kid, he was teaching me skills and determination through repetition and tears.
This club season (2023) I'm playing for Happy Volley Academy's 17u Elite team coached by Chris Rose. We play in some great tournaments this year and I hope you can come watch us play. I also play for Hollidaysburg Area Senior High where we won our 2nd straight District 6 3A championship. We lost in the quarterfinals of the state tournament. As a 3 year starter at Libero, I was proud to make All-state, 1st team District 6 and 1st Team Mountain League. We have a great team back next year and hope to make a run for the state title!
My heart is in playing defense, as that's what I have concentrated on since I started playing. I have attended so many camps, clinics and training sessions, over the years, trying to get better and better. I like watching great players in the hopes of picking up a new technique and skill. I bring a level of determined passion to the court, pushing myself and my teammates to play the very best we can on every point.
My love of volleyball is deep, and I desire to play in college, while getting a degree in business. I also ski in the winter and play golf in the summer. Most days I can be found with a volleyball in my hands bouncing it off a wall - trying to get better everyday!
