Personal Statement
My name is Maggie Schlueter, I am from Georgetown, TX. I played two years of D2 volleyball at the University of Alaska - Anchorage (2018) Redshirted and (2019) as a DS/SS. Playing in 2019 I contributed to the team as a diverse back row player, playing right back, middle back and left back defense at various points. My previous setter background in high school allowed me to take controlled out of system balls into running an offense. I highlight on my serving ability as I broke UAA's freshman ace record by over 15 aces. Serving at least one ace in 25 of 30 matches. Ending my freshman season 2nd in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference with 55 aces and 28th nationally with 0.47 aces per set. My serving arsenal contains a driving float serve, dropping float serve and a bomb serve. I also ended the season with 1.84 (3 point scale) passing percentage. Playing in 100% of the 2019 seasons matches and starting in 11. UAA made it to the Regional second round, ranking 5th in the last NCAA regional rankings.
My role on my team was to be a voice and an outlet for positive energy and encouragement and I am now looking to play a bigger contributing role in addition to that. I have true passion for the game of volleyball that is contagious amongst the many young woman I've played with. I strive to continue to improve every single day and set high standards for myself and I enjoy the competitive lifestyle and culture volleyball has brought into my life.
I am looking for the best blend of high level college volleyball and academic excellence and to be challenged in a business program where I can thrive in my remaining three years of eligibility.
My motto has been "Feed me to the wolves, and I'll come back leading the pack" and is a statement that has followed me through out my life and volleyball career. So bring it on.
