I was born in Pretoria, South Africa and my family immigrated to the USA in 2011. My parents sacrificed everything they knew to make the move and provide a better future for my siblings and I, and for that reason I vow to grab and run with every opportunity that comes my way!
People have told me that I am a talented swimmer. Despite having several records at High School, Club and Texas State to support that statement, I disagree wholeheartedly! I believe my true talent lies rather in my mental toughness and my willingness to out-train and out-grind everybody in the pool at every practice, EVERY DAY! Irrespective of the age, speed and talent of the athletes training with me, I thrive when surrounded by top talent! This is what fuels my self-confidence when I step up on the blocks to race!
I love being challenged! This holds true for both my academics and athletics. I attend Round Rock High School where I take my subjects at the highest level available, and achieved a 4.0 GPA in my Freshman and Sophomore years. My school's engineering program has sparked my passion for engineering. I will be looking for a college with a top engineering program. I want to use my passion for engineering to make an impactful and lasting contribution to society and my community. The importance of giving back to the community that supports me has been taught to me by the many opportunities to do volunteer work, each opportunity being personally rewarding in its own special way.
My drive and dedication allows me to be a natural leader and I like to lead by example in and out of the pool. Doing so also provides the opportunity and responsibility to mentor and motivate people that look up to me. I look forward to being a positive impact on any college swim team / family that I end up being a part of.
