Hunter Gibson '22 Recruiting Profile

My name is Hunter Gibson and I’m a left handed pitcher/first baseman from Mobile, Alabama. I throw an 86 mph fastball with a slider and a knuckleball. I’ve pitched on varsity since 8th grade and have started at first and in the outfield since 9th grade. I’m not a very big, overly dominating guy, but I carry myself with confidence and pure concentration. Because of this, I never give the opponent a chance to rattle me. I always am level headed and know how to react in every situation.  I’m a student of the game, taking advantage of every opportunity thrown my way. I take pride in my knowledge of the game, and it pays dividends. I have a 31 composite on my ACT (with a 32 superscore).  I love this game as much as anybody else, but I realize that academics come first. After all, that’s what college is all about. 

Edit: I just finished my senior year a couple of weeks ago. I made all county as a pitcher/outfielder and finished with 38 hits and a .404 batting average. In my last 3 pitching appearances of my high school career, I pitched through a strained lat muscle. In those 7 innings I threw I gave up 7 runs. Before my injury, I had a 1.00 ERA with 3 (should’ve been 4 if it wasn’t for a screwy finish) complete game wins.

Edit: I’m currently in my sophomore year at the University of South Alabama. I’m up to 86 mph on my fastball and am completely healed of my elbow injury. I’m willing to transfer if given the opportunity to play. I know this is a long shot but why not give it a shot.
