Kyle Scritzky '23 Recruiting Profile

My name’s Kyle Scritzky, and I am a 2-slot left-handed pitcher available to transfer to a 4 year university with 4 years of NCAA eligibility.  I completed my AA degree with 3.7 GPA at West Valley Community College as a redshirt freshman, while having previously attended San Jose State University. My goal is to return to baseball at the next level while also focusing on academics. I'm currently majoring in Business--Entrepreneurship with a minor in Economics.

I throw from two arm slots that I can mix interchangeably mid-at-bat, those slots being: low 3/4’s and sidearm. My arsenal from 3/4's consists of four pitches: 4-seam, sinker, curveball, and forkball. From the side, I'm working primarily 4-seams, sinkers, and a sweeping slider; all of which have much more horizontal profiles. In addition to being 6’3”, I have a 6'5" wingspan which plays well with my lankier build, allowing me to utilize my arm’s whip to its full potential resulting in more run on my pitches. At West Valley College my ERA was 1.63 for the season.  I fill a closer role on the team, typically going in for 1-2 inning stints. Being a closer or late reliever works well for me, since it gives me the opportunity to cut loose every pitch and let my pitches work to the fullest of their abilities.  During our team's successful playoff run (ending #2 in the state of CA), I was a spot starter and a long reliever going 5+ innings.  So I am comfortable playing any role as a pitcher.  

Academically, I chose to study entrepreneurship and economics, since I would love the opportunity to own and run a smaller, family-style business. 

Outside of baseball and academics, I’m an avid skier, mountain biker and archer. I enjoy all of them for a variety of reasons, but one reason they share is that they get me outdoors. 

In general, I’m looking for schools with solid academics as well as a competitive baseball team so I can push myself to play at the highest level I can.
