Personal Statement

As a highly dedicated and driven scholastic athlete, my mission is to channel my passion and determination into the collegiate program that welcomes me. I bring a competitive drive for success and thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environments. With an unwavering work ethic and a relentless pursuit of improvement, I am committed to elevating my team. Standing at 6'2.5" and still growing, I am focused on physical development, optimizing my diet and calorie intake while adhering to a rigorous 4- to 5-day-a-week weight training regimen. This summer, I am working to become stronger, faster, and more dominant in preparation for next year’s high school season. Primarily a middle infielder and third baseman, I have recently honed my pitching skills, aiming to bolster my high school team’s bullpen. I recently posted an impressive 87 mph in a bullpen session, with a clear goal of surpassing 90 mph well before the upcoming season.  Although, highly skilled and versatile defensively throwing right handed, I produce even more offensively at the plate batting from the left side.

My baseball journey began at age 8, building a strong foundation of success in city and Pony leagues, followed by competitive travel ball with the SoCal Dodgers. I later joined the prestigious Canes organization for summer play and currently compete in the fall with the Dodgers Scout Team under the guidance of Justin Sellers. As a mid-year transfer from the renowned Mater Dei High School program, I quickly adapted, making a significant impact with limited but highly effective playing time for Newport Harbor’s Varsity squad, showcasing my versatility and resilience.

Academically, I maintain an above-average GPA, excelling in language and mathematics, reflecting the same discipline and focus I bring to the diamond. Beyond baseball, I’m passionate about surfing and weightlifting and actively contribute to my community by volunteering with high school organizations. I am deeply proud of my supportive family—my parents and two younger siblings—with whom I cherish spending free time. Of notable interest, I am the grandson of the late James Gammon, the acclaimed actor who portrayed Coach Lou Brown in the Major League films. Baseball has been a central part of my life, and I approach it with unmatched passion. I am eager to contribute my talent, drive, leadership, and competitive spirit to a collegiate program ready to embrace my potential.
