What I want to get out of my college experience is first and foremost an excellent education. Getting the opportunity to compete on the baseball field while getting an outstanding education would be a blessing. Whatever I do after college, whether baseball is a part of that or not, I want to have a positive impact on the people and the world around me. One thing that drives me is competition, whether it's on the field or in the classroom. I have competed in and won awards at science fairs, and I am always proud to represent my school on the field and in front of judges. In my off time I enjoy volunteering at the Veterans Hospital, and honing my leadership skills through the NBS Junior Leaders program. I know wherever I end up going to school I will cherish the opportunity to improve myself as a student, an athlete, and most importantly as a person.

- 6-foot-1, 210-pound, strong, physical athletic frame. The neck is long, shoulders are sloped and put together well. A right-handed hitter, who has good pop in his hands, his rounds of BP were very good. The stance is slightly wider than shoulder width and front foot is open to even on his controlled, easy stride. The hands are set at shoulder height, are loose and are in a direct path to the baseball. The swing is level across his chest, stays through the baseball, barrel is in the zone a long time and has a classic high one handed finish. The tee exit velocity was clocked at 89 mph, with more in there. The approach is middle to pull, shows to have above average power to the pull side. The sixty yard dash was clocked at 7.49. Defensively, worked hard and long around the back, footwork and hands are good, hands are soft and keeps his nose to the dirt balls. The feet had good rhythm and quickness in starting the double play. The arm was clocked at 81 mph, the arm action is a little longer comes out of a higher slot. Good looking corner infielder, with above average strength in his swing.

- BULLDOG BASEBALL NAME: Quinnlan Burke CLINIC #: 4 BATSPEED METRICS: 86 (Tied for 4th best exit velocity at the clinic) BATSPEED COMPARABLES (CURRENT YALE BASEBALL PLAYERS) Average top of the order: 87-90 Average middle of the order: 92-96 Average bottom of the order: 85-87 AT-BATS: F4, 5-3 + contact, 1b lf ++ contact, F8 OFFENSIVE FEEDBACK: Offensively, Quinn had one of the better skillsets at the clinic. His batspeed is currently college caliber and ahead of the curve for a current high school hitter. In our opinion, he projects as a middle-of-the-order hitter at the collegiate level. Middle of the order hitters in our program are expected to hit for power in the hopes of getting themselves into scoring position while also driving in runs with runners on base. Bat exit speed is a great indicator of a middle of the order hitter’s projectability for two reasons… 1. It shows an ability to drive a ball over the outfielder and through a gap on a consistent basis 2. It shows the ability to let the pitch get deeper, offering you more time to recognize spin, location, etc. Middle of the order hitters receive a steady mix of pitches from opponents at our level, and the more batspeed you have, the more time you provide yourself to identify balls you can drive, and those you should take. Metrically, he is exactly where he wants to be as a young junior. But by the spring time and summer he should look to close the gap between where he is now (topping at 86) and where our current middle of the order bats currently find themselves (topping at 92-96) Mechanically, I noted that he possesses a very solid swing pattern. His barrel stays in the zone for a long time, providing him some margin for error if he’s a little ahead or behind a pitch. At times during batting practice, I noted that he could still generate some more batspeed with some mechanically tweaks. He can absolutely get some more separation in his swing (bottom half opening up while top half works to stay closed to create torque). Also, he tends to get his front foot down so earlier that it limits what his lower half can do and the momentum it can create into contact. All in all, what we saw from him in the drill work setting was consistent in the cages. He shows a great ability to challenge the defense and put the ball in play. In his first ab, he flew out to the right side before grounded out to third base in ab #2. Once his timing was there, he lined a single to left before driving the ball to the middle of the field in his last at bat. Going forward, he should take pride in his ability to show consistent batspeed, constistent barrel contact, and an ability to drive the baseball. DEFENSIVE FEEDBACK Obviously, the weather limited what we could see from all players on a defensive level, but in the brief defensive showcase we squeezed in before lunch, he showed that he’s athletic with a solid arm at first base. His hands and feet project him to 1st base at the next level- a place where his batspeed and ability to challenge the defense will be truly valued.
