Personal Statement
My name is Jonah Reich. I currently attend Kamehameha High which is a private school located on the Big Island of Hawaii. My educational aspiration as a student is to attain Head Masters List, which is the highest honor that can be achieved academically. My athletic goal is to become the best baseball player I can be as a young adolescent in high school. My future and long-term goal is to become a Firefighter and a Professional Baseball Player in the Major League.
I was introduced to baseball at a young age starting with T-Ball. My dad was my coach all the way until Little League. There weren’t many teams in my hometown and not enough volunteers to help with coaching, so my dad took on the responsibility of a coach. I’m thankful that my dad introduced me to baseball because it has taught me to work hard for what I want. I learned to listen to instructions that allowed me to develop my skills as a pitcher, batter and player. Now as a baseball player in high school and being coached by the high baseball staff, Iʻm able to adjust to different coaching manner and develop new skills for the positions that I play. Baseball has given me unrestricted access to develop social skills and being a team player. It allows me to see my strengths and weaknesses. Playing baseball gives me confidence to overcome obstacles athletically and academically. It enhances my focus on what I want to achieve in life.
My educational aspirations is to achieve a bachelors degree in Fire Science, which allows me to be promoted to a higher position in the Fire Department quicker than others who just has a high school diploma. While working on completing this degree at a college or university, I would be doing the other best thing, being an athlete and playing baseball at a higher level. As long as I’m healthy with no major injuries, I’m confident I will play Major League Baseball.
