My name is Chase Rosen, and I'm UNCOMMITTED 2023 Catcher/Utility player looking for the right fit for baseball and academics. I'm a high academic student-athlete who has played at the highest levels since I was eight years old, so baseball has always been a part of my life. I can't remember a time where I wasn't focused on playing at the collegiate level and if I'm fortunate enough to do that while getting my degree, it would be a dream come true. My ultimate goal is to attend law school after earning my undergraduate degree in pre-law studies
Ever since I was around four years old, I've loved the game and can't imagine not playing after high school. By nature I'm a southpaw, but learned to throw right-handed because I was too young for my parents to know which hand was dominant. Over the years, I've worked to become a switch-hitter and to throw left handed. I've played every position on the team, including pitching , often rotating to multiple positions within a single game, and developed a love for catching when I was in middle school.
My will to compete is the source of my passion, drive, and occasionally misunderstood behavior on the field. When catching, I'm laser-focused because I believe it's my job to get strikes from the umpire to help keep my pitcher's counts and ERAs down. My extensive baseball IQ and analytical skills come together behind the plate very well, making it easy for me to quickly call the pitches, sequence the batters, manage the infield/outfield, or adjust to the game my pitcher's throwing that day. If I'm playing 3B, 2B or outfield, I work just as hard and leave it all on the field for my team.
My coaches tell me that my baseball IQ and analytical talents can be my best asset and my worst enemy at times because I am hard on myself and expect a lot. For most of my life, people have thought baseball has come easy for me. Maybe it did when I was younger, but as I got older, I kept joining teams with players were more advanced than me that season. I know that playing with the top individuals in my class helps me become a better player. I work hard at school, the gym, my part-time job, philanthropy, and enjoying my hobbies and friends in my downtime.
