Since I first slipped my hand into a baseball glove, I've held onto the dream of playing this sport. My journey began at T-Ball when I was just five years old, and my passion as a first baseman ignited when I used my dad's glove. The position felt like a calling.
In my freshman year of high school, our school received exciting news – we were getting a baseball team, which sent my excitement skyrocketing. We collaborated with a neighboring school, and in our season as Maxwell - Saint Pats (MSP), we faced challenges, going 0-8. As a freshman, my playing time was limited, but I remained dedicated, supporting my teammates and grasping every opportunity on the field.
Determined to earn more playing time as a sophomore, I arrived at every practice ready to give my all. The team improved, finishing the season 3-8. As a sophomore, I embraced additional opportunities to play, often as a pinch runner for our pitcher.
To continue my baseball journey, I tried out for the summer travel team, North Platte FNBO Nationals, and secured a spot on the Juniors travel team as a backup first baseman. Yet, I was determined to prove myself and worked tirelessly to earn the starting first baseman position.
My junior year welcomed a new head coach, offering me a fresh opportunity to demonstrate my skills. This year proved far more promising as I played more frequently at first base and occasionally served as a pinch runner for the pitcher. I blossomed as both a player and a leader during that spring baseball season, despite our 5-8 record.
Returning for summer baseball with a clear goal of becoming the starting first baseman, the team needed pitchers, and I volunteered to give it a try. The coaches were impressed with my performance, and I earned their trust to pitch multiple games, even making appearances at third base. After the season, my teammates selected me for the 2023 Junior Leadership Award.
Entering my senior year, I am thrilled to take on leadership roles in both high school and summer baseball and expand my versatility by playing more positions. I believe I am an excellent candidate for your team – dedicated, hardworking, and committed to making a positive impact both on and off the field. Thank you for your time.
