Personal Statement

I am a 6’ 2," 180 pound, 14 year old eighth grade student at North Park Junior High in the Lockport City School System. Currently, I train at Hot Corner Baseball Academy with Ronnie Bernick 2-3 days a week in addition to my regular team practices and conditioning.  Coach Ron played D-1 baseball with the Canesius Golden Griffs, then coached and scouted for Niagara University.  He has worked with me for almost 2 years, so feel free to contact him with any question you have about me.

I, also, work hard academically.  In seventh grade I completed the year with a 96% average in my classes.  This year (8th Grade) I continue to make straight A’s.  Even more, I am taking Latin so I will do well on his SAT’s.  My desire is to earn an academic scholarship to supplement any athletic scholarship I may receive.

  • 2018 Prep Baseball Report (Jr Future Games (14u Invite Only))
  • https://www.prepbaseballreport.com/profiles/NYNUMBER 1 RANKED 2023 player in NY State—see attached picture. (I don’t know what my current rank is.) JR. FUTURE GAMES (Invite Only) I was invited to play up on PBR New York’s 14u team at the Junior Future Games in Westfield, IN. JR. FUTURE GAMES WRITE UP: GAVIN MCBEATH 3B / RHP / LOCKPORT, NY / 2023—Throughly impressed the PBR-NY staff this winter with his efforts on both sides of the ball. Athletic 6-foot-0 153 pound frame with some whip through the zone. Average and power potential. Projects well on the mound with a repeatable, up tempo delivery working through a high 3/4 slot. Touched 76 MPH back in February. PBR NEW YORK 🚨Rising Prospect Alert🚨 2023 3B/RHP Gavin McBeath (@GavinMcbeath) impressive BP round really getting after it, 80 mph exit velocity… WNY has a good one in the making …" Here is the link to the twitter alert and video: https://twitter.com/PBRNewYork/status/962776382676848640 RISING STARS SHOWCASE RECOGNITION "Rising Stars: Our instructional based event touched on the hows and whys but also allowed us to see some young talent like 2023 RHP/3B Gavin McBeath (Lockport) who was 73-74, touching 76 MPH with an 80 MPH exit velocity. Aggressive swings in the cage and attacks the ball defensively. #pbrjuniorfuturesgames” Here is the link to video and showcase writeup on instagram: https://www.instagram.com/p/BfMJRoGFiTF/ The following are PBR’s Rising Stars Showcase notes: McBeath is a 5-foot-11 153-pound right-handed hitting third baseman and pitcher. Has an athletic build with a lot of room to fill out. He ran an 8.08 60 and a 5.03 home-to-1B. Offensively- Starts with the bat straight up, front foot slightly in, back elbow up. Big front leg kick during load to generate power. Quick hands allows for quick bat speed. Consistently barrels up the ball. Back hip explodes through the ball. Exit velocity of 80 MPH. Major offensive potential. Defensively- Moves to the ball well. Footwork hasn’t caught up with his size, but will with time. Throws on target; 70 MPH arm strength. Will need some polish but that will come with game experience and off-season work. Pitching- Starts with heels on the rubber, facing the catcher. Steps to the side, front knee comes up to chest. Throws downhill with intent. Could have more command but that will come. Fastball sits 73-74 MPH, tops at 76 MPH. Curveball has a sharp 12-6 break; stays down in the zone. Sits at 60-62 MPH. 2023 grad with upside. PROFILE: https://www.prepbaseballreport.com/profiles/NY/Gavin-McBeath-3051467298
  • 2017 WNY Titans (12U)
  • Offensively playing for the WNY Titans 12u team I batted .500 for the season with 19 doubles, a triple, and 9 home runs. My on base percentage was .619. As a right handed pitcher I led my Titans travel team to a tournament victory at Cedar Point’s Sports Force Park. That weekend I pitched 10 and 1/3 innings. In Game 1 I gave up 1 earned run in my 3 inning start. That was followed by 7 1/3 scoreless relief innings in two more games against the Findlay Diamond Dawgs, whom I was told was one of Ohio’s best 12u teams (I didn’t verify how good they were.) Even more in the last tournament of the season I was 1 out from pitching a perfect game, then realized it and walked 1 batter. The first baseman from BL101 Real Ballers hit a game-winning two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth to propel his team to an 8-7 victory over Elite Squad National. McBeath went 2-for-3 with a double in addition to his home run, had one run of his own and tallied four RBIs. https://www.usabaseball.com/news/mcbeath-and-lambert-named-final-player-and-pitcher-of-the-day/c-308634100?tid=260379838
