Hi my name is Philip Gerena and I am attending Xavier High School in New York City. I want to pursue my education at Xavier, because the school has excellent academics that could get me very far in life if I work my hardest. Also, I am enthusiastic about the idea of the teachers giving their student athletes a lot of homework even when they have sport events after school. It will push me to strive for the best I could possibly be in both the classroom and on the field. More importantly, it will help prepare me for college and the obstacles I will have to face trying to be successful. On the other hand, I am also pursuing a dream to be a major league ball player. Characteristics that make me different from a lot of other players are the respect I have for the game. I want to play the game the way it should be played. By hustling in and out of the dug outs after every inning, and never taking a play off. In addition, I feel that I have good hands, footwork, a good stick, and a great baseball IQ that will allow me to play the middle infield in higher levels of baseball as years go on. Lastly, I understand the concept of how everyone makes errors and how u have to forget about it and move onto the next play. I want to go to a good D1 university and help contribute to the baseball team and win games.
