My name is Jose Arroyo Jr. and I am glad you stopped by to take a few minutes to learn about me. I currently attend Berea Midpark High School and I play on the Freshman Baseball Team. I play CF as my primary position and my secondary positions are RHP and LF.
One word that describes my life: Struggle. A word that is all too familiar to me. I’ve struggled my whole life with family issues. Those issues and problems taught me at a young age to be a good person, to care for others and myself, and always treat people the way you want to be treated. Through all the hardships, obstacles, and challenges I’ve had to overcome, it has taught me to be resilient, focus on my goals, have a positive attitude, and have mental toughness. It took one person, my neighbor, to ask me if I would try out for his son’s baseball team when I was 11 years old, and it was after that try out session, that I fell in love with the game of baseball.
Once I began playing baseball, all those lessons I learned from my struggles gave me the skills to have a positive, can-do attitude, and a strong mentality for myself and my team. I never planned on going to college because I didn’t think it was an option for me. But as I have gotten older and now that I am in high school, I realize how beneficial going to college would be to further my education. Sports is one thing, but having good grades and being a well rounded student is what I continue to work towards. The bonus for me would be the opportunity to play baseball at the collegiate level because I know that it is a privilege to play. I know that it takes determination and persistence to get what you want in life and I am not afraid to roll up my sleeves, get dirty, and put in the work. I am confident that if I am given the chance to go to college both for my academic and athletic abilities, that I will try my best, make mistakes, learn from them, and keep pushing forward. Thank you for this opportunity.
