Gavin Smargiasso '20 Recruiting Profile

I am a multi-sport athlete that focuses on baseball as a spring sport and soccer as a fall sport, along with other mixed sports throughout the year. My college aspirations involve finding a well-respected academic institution that also has a nationally renowned baseball program. My goal is to identify that school and reward them with an individual who is as dedicated to working hard in the class room as they are on the field of play.

My grades are important to me and I compete in the classroom the same way I compete on the field, with plenty of intense preparation. I have achieved more than a 4.33 GPA with honors classes in the mix. I am currently undecided for a potential major in college, however, the majors I may consider are: Law, Healthcare, Biotechnology, Engineering and Business. 

As for my baseball focus, I believe I am doing the things that need to be done to compete at the highest level. My strength, conditioning and technical skill development are being honed with professionals that know the game. The rate of my physical development has recently picked up pace with a focus on adding 3 to 5 mph of velocity every 6 months. While my pitch selection continues to mature with improvements in speed, accuracy and location, I am focused on being a good teammate and providing a winning attitude on and off the field.
