Matthew Wise '12 Recruiting Profile

I am a senior at Bath High School.  I have always loved sports and am very competitive.  I especially love baseball.  I am interested in playing baseball in college.  I have experience in pitching, third base, center field and left field. 

I feel that I am a leader.  I love to motivate and encourage.  Last year during baseball season my grandfather was battling cancer.  We found out about the cancer right when the season was starting.  I am very close to my family and this was a huge blow.  I decided to use it to motivate me instead of get me down.  I battled through the season without letting it get to me as so did my grandfather.  He went through a 7 hour surgery and they think they removed all the cancer.  I see how my grandfather battled and would like to model myself after him. 

I just want to play baseball.  I would like to major in sports medicine.  I am interested in being around athletes and using my experiences to better them if possible.  I love sports and would like a career around sports. 

My freshman and sophomore years in high school were not my best academically.  I have worked harder my junior year and made the honor roll all four quarters.  I have good grades again this year.  I am ready to work hard both in the classroom and on the field.

I am 6' and weigh 195 lbs.  I have played third base, center field and left field.  I also am a relief pitcher.  I hope to be captain of the baseball team this year.  I want to motivate and lead our team to victory.  I am a two year letterman in both football and baseball.  Last year I earned honorable mention all WBL (the league we play in).  Our team made to regionals last year. 

In the summer I tried out and made the Lima Legion Team. I played left field.  There were 17 talented kids on our team so we had to take turns playing.  We had a good team and made it to state tournament. It was difficult for me because I am used to playing, but i just want to play baseball in college and I thought this would be a good experience for me.  I learned a lot and met a lot of new friends. 

When I am at practice and in games I give 110%.  Its "go hard or go home".  I just love to play and I have always dreamed of playing in college.  Give me a chance and you won't be sorry.
