Personal Statement

My name is Harry Hanley, and I am a baseball player with an unyielding passion for the game. Born in Ethiopia and adopted by my family in the United States, my journey has been shaped by diverse experiences that have fueled my dedication to the sport I love.  My background has been supported through the dedication and support of my family.

As a left-handed pitcher and outfielder, I take immense pride in my craft.  The art of pitching is not just about throwing strikes; it's about outsmarting batters, mastering the nuances of each pitch, and delivering when it matters most.  With every pitch, I aim to keep hitters off balance and make an impact on the game.  As an outfielder, I aim to take away hits and stop base runners.  As a hitter, I put my team in a position to win with my bat-to-ball skills and speed, and ultimately lead my team to victories.

Beyond my dedication to baseball, I have always understood the value of education.  Excelling academically has been a top priority for me, and I am proud to have maintained straight A-grades throughout my academics.  I firmly believe that the pursuit of knowledge and athletic success go hand in hand.

With my pitching, fielding, and hitting, I bring a unique advantage to the game, and I constantly seek ways to refine my skills and adapt to different game situations.  I am not afraid of hard work, and I embrace challenges with a growth mindset, always striving to improve my game and contribute to the success of the team.

I am eager to take my talents to the collegiate level, where I can continue to develop as a pitcher and fielder and contribute to a strong and competitive program.  I am seeking a college that values diversity, supports its student-athletes both on and off the field, and fosters an environment of mutual respect and excellence.

It would be an honor to be part of a program that shares my passion for the game and values the drive for excellence on the field and in the classroom.
