My father has been my head or assistant coach for most of my athletics to date. He always taught me obsession trumps talent, every single time. I can assure you I am obsessed. While my mom says grades come first, I define my existence by my athletics. I have always played baseball since I was old enough. I play rec, school and travel so baseball is a year round sport for me. This past year on my pony team, I was named captain as a 7th grader. Since attending middle school last year as a 6th grader, I decided to make it my quest to join every sports team I could fit into my schedule. I recently joined the school basketball team as a starter and we won the championship. I also joined an AAU basketball team last year as a starter, and we won the national title in our region. More recently, I added junior high football to my resume and joined the team as a starting wide receiver and outside linebacker. We had an undefeated season. Next year, in 8th grade I cannot wait to joining the track and field, golf, and bowling teams. I want my lettermen's jacket to represent every team I played for. I want it filled to the max. While baseball is my primary sport and my motivation to go to college, I am only scratching the surface at my potential in other sports so I want to leave those doors open for my future as well. My father says any school willing to offer me a roster spot puts me in the top 7% of all athletes, so he says I should be gracious to accept anything that comes my way, but I will attempt to walk on any baseball team I can. he also says I respond well when pushed, so he continues to push me. He built me a batting cage and basketball court in our barn that I spend all of my free time in. If he cannot come with me, I simply play by myself, because I am obsessed.
