Eddie Kaufman '23 Recruiting Profile

I fell in love with baseball at a young age.  Championships and awards came, but I now know, it was the friendships, school spirit and pride in accomplishing something as a team, that is the greatest trophy.  There is just something about nine guys battling between two chalk lines … a team, a family on and off the field, the struggle to be great and the struggle to be even greater, the game, the cheers, and the magical moments when it all comes together.  I look forward to playing college baseball and earning my degree.   

I'm blessed with speed, power and have the desire to be the best I can be.  My coaches, my family, my other sports (golf, gymnastics and basketball), success and failure have taught me I have mental toughness, the mentality and temperament required to get the job done.  I’m far from perfect but I have the desire and a fire burning to help my team win.  I will do the little things, I will lead, I will listen, I will have pride in my team and honor my college, my coaches and our team and do my best to earn your respect.

Honors:  

•  Selected All-Star for Lackawanna County by 570Sports (2023).

•  Selected 1st Team All-Star for the Lackawanna League (2023).

•  Selected as H.S. Team Capitan for 2023 season.

•  Greg Legg Diamond Scholarship Award winner - 2023.

•  LIAA Scholar Athlete Award for Academic and Athletic Excellence - 2023.

•  Mid Valley Baseball Scholarship Award Winner - 2023.

•  Nationally ranked and currently #9th best OF in PA (Via Perfect Game Sept. 2022)

•  Named to Perfect Game’s “Top Prospect List” in August of 2022.

•  Selected by Perfect Game as a 2023 Pre-Season All American and All Region Teams member.        

•  Selected by Baseball Factory as a 2023 Pre-Season All American. 

•  Selected 1st Team All-Star for the Lackawanna League (2022).  

•  Won the 2022 batting title for the Lackawanna League (finishing 1st out of 143 players).

•  Holds two school records in baseball (most hits in a season(Both 2022 & 2023 seasons) and highest season batting average). 

•  Our Mid Valley High School team won the 2022 Nick Bolick Sportsmanship Award presented by the P.I.A.A baseball umpires.

•  I was selected as "Athlete of the Week" by the Scranton Times Tribune on 8/17/22. 

•  In the past I’ve also made All-Tournament Team with the East Coast Sandhogs at Perfect Game and won multiple junior awards.  

•  Named to Perfect Game’s “All Tournament Team” in 2017.

•  I was also selected as a 1st Team All-Star for the Lackawanna League for H.S. golf in 2022 too.   

•  Won the Bob Simons Classic with a 72 (First Mid Valley student to ever win this tournament).  1st out of 125 players.

•  Won HS Divisional Tournament Sept. 2022 (1st out of 121 players, shot -5 under, 67) and placed into the Mid Valley HS Athletic Hall of Fame.

Athletics:  

•  A Five-Tool baseball player.

•  Premium defensive CF with an ability to make a high level impact offensively.  Hits to all fields (spray charts available upon request).

•  6.64 60 yard dash, as recently verified (laser timed), at two separate events this summer. 

•  Raw arm strength has recently been measured at 90 mph from CF (multiple readings this summer). 

•  Recorded 90 - 98+ MPH exit velocities consistently in workouts this summer. 

•  Secondary position is RHP but can play 8/9 positions. 

•  Only starting freshman to make my varsity team in High School  

•  Started every varsity game in 9th, 10th and 11th, 12th grades.  

•  Dual sport athlete - served as my H.S. golf team's #1 player during 9th, 10th, 11th and now 12th grades.  Team captain during 10th, 11th and 12th grades.  

•  I also competed on a gymnastics team until age of 11.

Academics:  

•  3.92 GPA and I’m a member of the National Honors Society (10th, 11th, 12th). 

•  Highest academic honors across 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th grades.  

•  2022-2023 Mid Valley LIAA Scholar-Athlete Award winner.

• Mid Valley Honor Graduate Award winner.

•  Ranked 21st in my H.S. class.    

•  During 2022, I also was selected for, and completed, a seven month leadership program – Tommorrow’s Leaders Today.
