Ever since I was little, my parents would billet baseball players for the Moose Jaw Miller Express and they still do to this day. Thanks to this, I grew up around baseball my whole life and started playing when I was three. I have been a multi-sport athlete all along and still am but I never realized that baseball was my passion till I got to the age of 12. I love the feeling of a batter against a pitcher, each having their own playing style, going against one another.
I never really was a player that stood out to most people so I have always worked extra hard to earn my way onto the teams I have made. I have had some really great coaches and mentors(including the ball players that have billeted with us) as well as my Dad, who has been my greatest support, coach and mentor. They have allowed me to build good self-discipline and responsibility for myself and to build my strengths based on their advice. When I am catching, I have developed a very good sense of what a batter's weakness would be based on their batting stance, previous at bats, swing, and where they are in the lineup, allowing me to call the right pitch. I also have good receiving skills and a strong arm. Along with that, I still build a strong offense for my team, by hitting the ball in all directions and not striking out much. For example, I only struck out 7 times last year with 49 plate appearances being the youngest player in 18U AAA at 15.
I also take my academics very seriously, so far posting a 4.0 GPA. I believe my responsibility to be a good student is very important and have been told by my teachers that I am a leader and a student they enjoy teaching. I think I would be an asset to college baseball teams for the passion I show and my work ethic for the game as well as my academics. I get along with my teammates and I have also been told many times by coaches that I am a coachable player with very good baseball knowledge. I love receiving feedback and acting on it because that is the best way for me to improve.
Overall, I am open to any kind of school that can give me a good education for my future and that can give me the college experience I have been looking for that leads me on the right path. I haven't decided on academic and career path yet. I want to be part of a team that is willing to push me and help me improve to reach my goal of playing at the highest level of baseball.
