Personal Statement
My name is Randy Huerta, I am 6’0” and weigh 200 pounds. I am a hard-working person who loves to play baseball. After graduating from New Braunfels High School in 2018, I was grateful to sign with Midland College to further my academic and baseball career. During my freshman year at Midland, I learned how to become a valuable college player. I was able to move from high school to college competition pretty easily thanks to my teammates and coaches. With lots of hard work, I was able to earn a starting spot at first base. We had a long but fun season and in the end, most importantly we won our conference. Sadly we lost in the regionals and weren’t able to go to Junction. Even through failure, I gain so much experience and knowledge of playing baseball during the postseason. I was also able to maintain a 3.4 GPA through the season. All this experience helped me a lot going into my sophomore year. I knew what lifts and things I had to do to become a better baseball player. I worked every day during the offseason to prepare myself for the following season. Going into my sophomore season I was ready to go to work with the team getting better together everyday. We started the season pretty rough starting off 8-8 In our first 16 games. Personally I started off pretty hot but cooled down after a while. I knew we were away better and I was a way better player. Luckily to start the conference we won our first 4 games and looked like we had hit our stride. Sadly before the next series, the season was canceled due to the Coronavirus. This was absolutely insane and I was very upset I was not going to finish the season. Now all I want is a place to continue to get better as a baseball player and person. I am easily coachable and just want a shot at the next level. I will bring energy and hard work wherever I go!
