I'm a self-taught submarine pitcher. I started throwing side-arm when I was 12 years-old. Ever since then, I've gone against the normal. I experiment with different pitches and grips at various arm slots. Gradually, I've been able to drop my arm slot and pitch lower and lower. So now, I throw submarine and side arm, and anywhere from the 2 o'clock to 6 o'clock arm slot positions with various grips. I am a junior in high school and I truly believe my unique pitching style is an asset to any team. I have proven to be really effective, especially taking the mound after a fastball pitcher. Once I take the mound, I completely disrupt the batters timing, approach, and swing. My different arm angles leave the batter guessing at which pitch from which slot will come at them. Most of the time, it leaves them with an unbalanced approach because they overswing and underestimate the movement of my pitch. This results in weak pop ups or groundballs because they have difficulty adjusting to make level contact with my pitch. For my academics, I am a very hard worker who likes to stay on top of things. I have a 3.63 GPA unweighted. It may not seem that high at first, but this is because I take many hard classes. The honor classes I have taken are Chemistry 1, Chemistry 2, Physics 1, Physics 2, Algebra 2, and Pre-Calculus. And I'm currently taking AP Chemistry, which has been a challenge to keep a good grade in. I am also a team player, not only on the field, but with friends and family as well. I help many friends with their schoolwork and other social/family problems. I help tutor my friends, and am available to be there to listen and talk issues they may be experiencing. Overall, I believe I am a great student and ball player; I try to balance my time between school, baseball, friends, and family. This year for baseball, we won state for Washington 3A.
