Personal Statement
Baseball has always been a defining aspect of my life. Ever since I first swung a bat at the age of 2, I have learned the importance of hard work, mental toughness, sportsmanship, and respect through the sport. I am constantly looking to get better and I am continuing to develop these qualities, as they not only help me on the baseball field, but also in the classroom.
I am from Mercer Island, Washington, a suburb of Seattle, and play for my high school’s competitive baseball program that consistently produces Power 5 Division 1 talent.
Off the field, I challenge myself in school as well as with several extracurricular activities. I take a rigorous workload at the high-achieving Mercer Island High School. I am the student representative on the school board. I am the treasurer in my local DECA (a business competition) chapter, and qualified and competed at the International competition last year. I also participate in my school’s varsity Mock Trial team. I dedicate several hours a week to building strength and flexibility in the weight room to prepare myself for the baseball season.
On the field, I have been competing at the highest level for my whole life. I won two state Little League Championships growing up, played for several club teams that garnered success in the Seattle Elite League and other regional tournaments, and am entering my Junior year for one of the top high school teams in the state of Washington. My current summer team is Mudville 9 Pinnacle coached by Kurt Boyd, who has developed talented players in the Pacific Northwest including his son Matt Boyd, who pitches in the MLB. Throughout my career, I pride myself on being a coachable player and an excellent teammate. I love the camaraderie that comes along with the sport.
I am looking for a college that will not only push me as a baseball player, but will also give me access to the best possible education available. My family etched the importance of education into my character and I would love to attend one of the nation’s most prestigious colleges. Overall, I want a well-rounded college baseball experience that provides me with the best coaches, environment and education available.
