Cheerleading is more than just a sport to me, it's a way of life. Through countless hours of practice and performance, I have learned the values of discipline, commitment, perseverance and most importantly, teamwork. These qualities have shaped me as a athlete, but have also positively influenced every aspect of my life. My athletic career started in gymnastics at age 3 where I trained and competed, eventually rising to become a level 8 gymnast. I always thought I would take my gymnastics path all the way to college, but as I grew older, I realized this sport lacked a true team environment and I decided to consider a transition to cheer. The transition was definitely hard but I decided to keep going and I'm glad I did. My team became such a big influence on my confidence and my cheering. As I keep pushing through my high school years I am focused on my grades and my cheer team. I want to be captain by my senior year so I can help the team grow together, achieve our goals and support the school. Mostly, I want to continue applying the lessons I've gained from my experiences in cheerleading to my life overall, and I look forward to being part of a college cheer team.
