Matthew Knight '26 Recruiting Profile

Hello! My name is Matthew and I am a junior at Bainbridge High School on Bainbridge Island in the state of Washington. Cheer has been a game-changer in my life! I started watching videos of cheerleaders and began practicing on my own. I had been in theater for several years, so I knew my passion was performing for other people. However, Cheerleading, unlike acting, made me feel like my true self. I felt joy for the first time in a long time. I love performing in front of crowds. I love the feeling of community with my fellow cheerleaders and I truly love the stunt aspect of the sport. I made the competitive cheer team as both a sophomore and as a junior. I made the All American Team two years in a row and performed in the Holiday Spectacular at Disney World in November of 2023. This year, I will be performing at Disney World once again! Last year, our Varsity team placed 5th for the Washington State. I have committed and devoted all of my time (outside of studying, working and sleeping) to the sport. I am a leader, incredibly resilient, a hard worker, always curious and passionate and I feel that I have real grit. It is my passion and my dream to perform at the college level.
