While I have been active in a number of sports, I know that I would like to play field hockey at the college/university level. I am eager to learn as much as I can to improve and have trained with several different goalie coaches. I currently train with Michael Mahood who is the former goalie for the Canadian National team and is a two time Olympian. In my first year as a full time Keeper, I was selected to the North West Regional Squad, and eventually chosen as the Keeper for the U15 provincial BC Blue ("A") Team. We placed 2nd at the U16 Canadian Nationals competing with teams a year older. Following that tournament, I was selected to attend a 3 day Junior Identification camp with the Canadian National Team. In 2016 I was still eligible to play at the U16 level, but I successfully tried out for a U18 provincial team. We recently returned from Nationals where we placed 4th.
I believe that I am an excellent candidate for an NCAA team because I am extremely focused and dedicated to my studies and my sports. I enjoy the fun comradery of my team mates and I am a loyal friend. I prefer a very structured and healthy lifestyle without too much social distraction outside of my field hockey training, team building and academic studies. I am very determined to always do my best and I never let life's disappointments get in the way of reaching my goals or those of my team mates.
I am still trying to decide on a university major, but am possibly interested in teaching or liberal arts. I am currently on the "honors with distinction" list at my high school.
