6.27.18
Hello, my name is Sarah Morgan. I am 16 years old and a Junior at Pleasant Valley High School. I play any offensive position in field hockey and have scored 17 goals in my fall season of 2017 and 27 in the spring season of 2018.
I discovered field hockey going into my freshmen year. I am a leader, a good teammate, positive, adaptable and hard worker. I have started in every season game from the beginning. I was voted Captain of my JV team last year and received the MVP award for my play during the 2017-18 Fall season. I was excited and honored to accept an invitation from our Varsity Coach to play the EAL Post Season Tournament where I scored 2 goals. In the spring, I played U16 and U19 tournaments with my school and was a guest player for the USA Lions and the Pink Panthers. I also want to take advantage of any opportunity I can to get stronger and be a better player. This is why I am a two year participant of the USA Field Hockey Futures Program and plan to continue for the next two years. My determination and intensity is obvious on the field in play and in drills. In the spring, I run track competing in the 100 meter sprint, 200 meter sprint and the 4x4 relay. In the short off season I continue my conditioning, build my strength, and stick technique and attend summer training camps.
I also enjoy the social opportunities high school offers. As a Freshman, I was appointed Class President, this year was elected Sophomore Class President, and was selected as the Sophomore Football Homecoming Princess and recently elected to the position of Associated Student Body Publicity/Social Media for my upcoming Junior year. I am a happy, goal driven person.
I understand that being a leader also comes with great responsibility, so I want to do my part to make a positive impact in my community by giving back so I take advantage of those opportunities whenever possible. For example, Link Crew, a student government program, we assist and coach incoming freshmen in their transition into high school and promote anti-bullying practices and lifestyle. I am also a Student Representative for “SPORT”, an outreach program promoting a healthy lifestyle and teaching importance of goal setting. I am also Athlete Committed. Athletes are nominated by coaches and school administration as a role model and leader on campus committing to clean and healthy lifestyle, free from drugs and alcohol. All the while working hard my studies, challenging myself with Honors classes while maintaining a 3.3 GPA.
My dream is to play College Field Hockey and am willing to travel out of state to fulfill that dream. I am a hard worker, who plays with heart. I play to win. A Futures coach once told me that “every day is a great day to play field hockey.” I believe this with all my heart. I am excited for this next year and to start this field hockey season strong.
Thank you for taking the time to read about me.
I hope to meet you soon.
