Hi, my name is Nora McDowell and I am currently a junior at Burlington High School, in Massachusetts, class of 2025. I have been playing field hockey since 8th grade for the school. I was on JV then, and on varsity for all 4 years, and I am going to be one of the captains for the 2024 season. I play center defense, but I have also played a few other positions during my time on a club team, sea coast. We haven’t won any fancy awards but each year we get better, which is very important. Since I was in highschool we have helped to build up the youth field hockey program in my town. The program grows every year and I love to volunteer to help coach the middle school and elementary schoolers with practices and scrimmages. My coach and team have been very supportive and helpful throughout my field hockey career so far. Ever since I learned the sport a few years ago there is not a day where I don't wish to be on the field. I would love to go to a rather small or medium sized school so that I am able to focus on both my academic and athletic careers. I plan on going into the medical field, either physical therapy, or nursing. My goal since I was little was to always help others so I think the medical field is a perfect fit. As a student I have a 3.4 gpa, I'm in one AP class, and 2 honors classes. Outside of school I have two jobs, at a bakery and I work as an assistant teacher for an after school program in my town. I enjoy both a lot. I also love to do photography in my free time and I love to go to the gym and work towards the next up and coming seasons. However, I am very proud of myself as a person. I enjoy being social and getting to know new people. I always cheer people on whether it is a small or big accomplishment. As a player I am very kind and respectful and I have been told so by teammates and coaches of both my team and opposing teams. I hope to continue this energy through the college level, and I hope you will consider me to be part of your team in the future!
