I knew field hockey was the sport for me ever since I stepped on the field at 8 years old. It’s something that I’m very passionate about because it drives me to become a better, more successful player. I feel I would be a strong candidate for any team because I have perseverance, discipline, and determination. I have always worked well in a team environment and I enjoy being a part of leading the team to achieve our goals. On the field, I am able to make quick decisions and have a good vision for the field. I can control the ball well and am very quick on my feet. This year I was chosen to be captain and voted Offensive MVP of my high school team because I have good leadership qualities, am always helping the team or individuals improve, as well as myself. I was also just chosen to be captain of my club winter league team. In the Spring of 2016, I assisted coaching and refereeing the middle school field hockey team. Off the field, I enjoy riding my bike, running, reading, painting, volunteering at local homeless shelters and practicing yoga.
Strong academics are very important to me. I have always done well in school. I am very interested in majoring in science in college, specifically neuroscience and biochemistry. These would allow me to pursue a career in the science field. In the summer of 2016, I did an internship at the Life Sciences Institute at the University of Michigan for Dr. Ivan Maillard. This allowed me to experience first-hand how biochemistry and neuroscience can be applied. I plan to do this again in the summer of 2017. Throughout high school, I plan to take upper-level AP and IB classes, while maintaining a GPA that will allow me to attend my school of choice. I am willing to push myself as hard as I can to become a successful college student-athlete.
