I was a two sport athlete (football and basketball) until my junior year. At that time I decided not to pursue any other sports so I could train and put all of my efforts towards my passion which is playing football. Each year I look forward to transfer new knowledge and skills onto the field. I train year round on making my throwing mechanics sound and gaining as much knowledge as possible. Our offence this year consisted of me being able to make my reads and throw the football down the field which led to a big success for our team. This played to my assets because I tried to pattern myself as a player that uses all the tools around him which will help me better read defenses as they become more sophisticated and increase my football IQ.
I am taking an ambitious course load (in the honor thread) this year including math-30, math-31, bio-30, chem-30, and physics-30 in addition to my other core courses, which will give me more than the required amount of credits needed to graduate. My time is completely filled with focus on my academics, football training, practice and games as well as a part time job. I have worked part time as a server in a restaurant since I was 12 years old with the goal of saving money to attend university. As part of my Social Studies and English classes we are frequently asked to debate controversial topics and this was always very exciting and enjoyable for me. Participation in these debates piqued my interest in pursuing a legal career. This has motivated me to seek an education in the legal field where I can further sharpen these debate skills to help people in need. My ultimate goal is to become a criminal defense lawyer.
I am part of close family; mom, dad and sister play an important role in my life. My dad has been an influential person in my life. He is the one who first got me into football; he taught me the game and has been there for me since day one. He told me a quote when I was young that I never forgot. “Fall seven times, stand up eight”, in hard times he would always remind me of this quote and I have tried to live my life in such a way. My mom has always provided invaluable support, teaching me the importance of working hard, being kind, being honest and believing in myself. These aspects of my life have made me into the person that I am today and I have my family to thank for that.
