My name is Joshua Cox, a 2026 graduate student-athlete with a 4.08 GPA at Archmere Academy. I played on the varsity track team as a true freshman, and it was only my first year doing throws. Unfortunately, it was taken away around half of the season due to injury, hence the reason for my lackluster stats of only Freshmen records in Shot put & Discus prior to the chance of making states. Despite this, I made sure to come back in full effect in order to make up for that season with a current max squat of 665lbs and a 335lbs. Outside of sports, I took a major part in being a part of the community with volunteering a considerable amount, as well as advocating for diversity throughout the state. In school, I am what you could consider an academic weapon with my favorite subject being mathematics, and I am interested in engineering, anesthesiology, or finance as my major in college.
My welcome to throw came rather unique, being that my first year trying it was my freshman year, as previously stated. It all started when I wanted to go outside and do some football drills in my free time during the winter on our field, when the then-throws captain, Steve Ovando, pushed me to sign up for track in the spring, and from then on, my love never died. Even after my injury towards the end, I came back the next year, striving for greatness, and even impressing myself by making states after just transitioning to rotation that spring. Although my position coach was rarely present during the season, I took it upon myself to self-teach and improve where I saw fit, eventually repeating my attendance at states and Meet of Champs my junior year, also concluding with team MVP. Even though my throwing career is relatively new, my love for it remains the same and continues to grow.
Please check out my profile and links through the website for this upcoming senior year, and thank you in advance for your time and consideration.
Best of luck to you and your team this year.
Sincerely,
Joshua Cox, class of 2026
