Personal Statement
I have been playing football since I was 4 years old. Along with serving others, it is my passion. I work hard on and off the field constantly; in the weight room, in the classroom, in leadership roles, and spiritually with my church, small group, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. I am a great candidate for any team because I work hard, I am strong (physically and mentally), I am coachable, I am a student of the game, I am passionate, and I just flat out love football. I am different because of my exceptional work ethic, my academic effort, and my faith. All of these come together in my natural ability to lead and make me a good teammate. I go hard in everything I do!
In my house, it's always been, "Go big or go home!". I have had high expectations set for me my entire life by my parents and family and have worked through challenges to overcome obstacles to meet those expectations. This has developed my work ethic, persistence, and endurance; failure is not an option, it is a momentary learning hurdle. Being a student-athlete in 3 different sports, I have learned the value of hard work, putting in the extra time, the importance of being humble, how to overcome challenges, and how to work well with others. It has brought out the leadership qualities in me and has given me an outlet to encourage others. It has taught me how to win and unfortunately lose which I believe are both very valuable life lessons.
My academic goals in high school are to finish strong and stay on track to complete high school with a high GPA. I also am pursuing challenging classes that will prepare me for the field of nursing that I intend to pursue in college. In college, I hope to prepare for a career in nursing, which I know is unusual for a male, but I have always enjoyed studying health and biological sciences, and I also have a passion for helping and serving others; which I have found to also be very important qualities as an athlete and team member.
