For me, football is something I am incredibly passionate about. My Dad played in the CFL and I really want to follow in his footsteps. Football is something I am built for and will continue to work hard to do better each time I am out on that field. I will show up, I will drive harder, I will listen, I am coachable and I have the character you need to help any team succeed. On the field, I may not be the superstar, but I know how to protect the superstars. I know how to be the support role to get the assignment done and win.
As an athlete with ADHD, I pride myself on learning how to learn so that I always get the job done. I will show up, work hard, and always find a way to navigate challenges - that trait is in my DNA and how my brain works. People think that having a neurodiverse brain is a bad thing, I will prove over and over again that it makes me a stronger, more resilient and a more capable candidate. On the football field, my ADHD makes me incredibly focused - it allows me to see things that other athletes can't simply because I'm wired differently. This allows me to be incredibly focused, especially when I love something.
While I may not have top grades this year, my whole focus was to learn how to learn on my own. This is my first year at boarding school. I have amazing parents who support me and for grade 10, they wanted to me to see what I was capable of doing on my own in a supportive yet independent setting. In grade 9, they supported my learning and the teachers at my old school really helped me. But going in to grade 10, I wanted to show I could do it on my own, despite my learning challenge - and I have. In my grades, you'll see I have dropped from Grade 9 to Grade 10, but that was intentional allowing me a year to learn how to learn, to fail so I could figure out how to do better. Each report card shows progress. Each report card I've evaluated what I can do more of and be better at. I know in the next 2 years I will crush my learning because I have figured out how to leverage my differences.
All of these things make me a stand up candidate who will continue to work hard and show you improvement year after year. Thank you for reading this and considering my profile.
Sincerely,
Logan
