My family, music and sports have influenced me for most of my life. My family has taught me countless life lessons that I wish I understood sooner. The music I listen to mainly reflects my mood and helps my creative thinking. I started playing football in the 9th grade at Timberline High School in Lacey, Washington. My friends said I ran fast and that I should try out for football because they could use a guy like me on their team. My freshman season was a struggle and I earned a spot on the roster at cornerback. Even though my first football season had its challenges, I loved the idea of being a part of something bigger than myself. In the 11th grade I was selected to play in the 8th Annual Tomodachi Bowl between Japan and the USA here at Camp Zama American High School, Japan . We won the game 23-3.
Through playing football I now understand there is more to learn from the people around me and that I should never give up. Sports have taught me a great deal about good sportsmanship, teamwork, confidence and leadership. My main academic goals for High School and College are to excel in my studies, graduate in the top half of my class, find a good job and be able to support a healthy family. An obstacle that I have overcome being part of an Army family is moving around a lot. It seems like as soon as I become comfortable with my surroundings we are uprooted. This has taught me to be resilient and to make friends quickly. I am glad that I was able to meet so many interesting people in my travels and live in places like Germany, Japan, Washington, California, and Virgina just to name a few. Some unique traits I possess are the ability to learn quickly, the ability to be coached and the desire to be an asset to the team. I will always give my teammates, classmates and friends advice if they need it and be a role model to them and my two younger brothers, setting the standard in everything I do.
