Personal Statement

My goals and aspirations are to go and play for an NCAA 1 basketball college in America, I want to go there to improve basketball-wise and academically. I feel like college would be a good place for me to go to achieve my aspiration of professionally playing basketball.

I'm hard-working, coachable and resilient. I'm always willing to learn more and challenge myself to constantly get better. I'm a team player that is willing to give energy on both sides of the floor as I have to ability to attack and finish around the basket and take smart shots. On defence, I have the hunger and the stamina to contain my defender and protect the basket with blocks, steals and interceptions.

I represent the England national U15 basketball team and bring many good qualities on and off the court. I have the leadership needed to lead a team as I captain my U14 club and school team. I'm 6ft 3 with a 6ft 7 wingspan, I am naturally a gifted athlete with good mental and physical strength. I work on my physical wellbeing while training daily while keeping on top of my homework and studies. Academically, I go beyond the targets that my teachers set for me and I always work towards getting the top grades.

I'm looking for college coaches that believe in me and can see the potential in me and help me reach the maximum level I can be.

  • The Talent Pathway contains four tiers of progression that sits astride the adjoining Talent System and showcases the various stages of development for basketball players from the age of 11 through to senior GB representation. The Aspire Programme sits at the base of the model and is for 11 to 15-year-old basketball players originally selected through the National Scouting, Talent Identification & Tracking Programme from a talent pool of 20,000 boys & girls in clubs & schools nationwide. It’s important to reiterate that selection in this system will be based on a threshold approach rather than a quota system and will involve collaborative relationships with our clubs and schools network. Participants within the Aspire Programme receive competition, education and training at one of our 10 Regional Talent Hubs (RTHs) located across the country. There are multiple entry points for basketball players within the Aspire Programme, affording coaches the opportunity to position certain individuals in higher or lower age groups depending upon the precise stage of their development at a particular time. The next rung on the ladder above the Aspire Programme are the England Development Programmes (EDPs), which are based within educational institutions and cater for 16 to 19-year-old players. This stage will also benefit from the tactical and technical coaching and support that will be available at the RTHs and will aim to bridge the gap from the Aspire Programme to the England Talent Programmes (ETPs). The pinnacle is naturally selection for GB at Under 16, Under 18, Under 20 and senior levels and that recognition will of course come as a consequence of players progressing successfully up through the Pathway. Full details about the Aspire Programme, the EDPs, the ETPs and the Great Britain squad phases can be seen below:
