Personal Statement
My Name is Shaun Schanick I am the Oldest of 3 boys, I have 2 younger brothers Trenton and Kayden. I take being a big brother with a lot of pride, they look up to me and everything I do. So I try my best to show them whats right and how to be a good person. My parents did not come from much so they have taught me to work hard for what you want and to always stay humble. They have both did the same and have become very successful and for that I want to follow in their footsteps.
When I was 7 I got sick and ended up having Meningitis I lost the ability to walk and the use of my arms. I had to go to PT for months to regain the strength and ability. So my mom signed me up for football to help me with my running and Motor skills. When I 1st started playing I had no idea what I was doing other then blocking the person I was assigned to. As time went on I started to study the game listen to my coaches and really understand what it was all about. My passion for the game has taught me how to teach others who struggle, I have been a caption for the last 4 years because of my ability to read plays and have field vision. My coaches always tell me they love my never give up mantality. If I dont get somthing I keep trying until I master it no matter how long it takes. When I put on my gear the feeling is incrediable my adrenaline is flowing and I feel untouchable. The love I have for the game is unmeasurable.
I have done a lot of research on colleges and what they look for and I know that they not only look at your athletic ability but also your GPA. I have Maintained a 3.05 (also my mom will be on me if I dont) but My goal is to get it over a 3.5 and to graduate with honors. I plan to Major in Sports medicine in college. I figure if I dont make it to the NFL I can atleast work with them.
I know that no matter what College chooses me will not regret their decision. With the Leadership, Drive, Determination and humbleness that I bring to the table will set our team apart from the rest.
