Personal Statement
I am Brett Pero. The first goal I have is to get a college education. The path to get there as a college student athlete will take dedication and focus. Along with that goal, I have great aspirations to play football at the next level and prove my talents as a student athlete to a major university. To accomplish my goals is a process. I first must dream of them, plan for them, act on them and most of all, believe in them. As a high school student athlete, I have always set big goals no matter how challenging they may be. I have high expectations for myself as a person, academically and athletically. I am currently a 3 sport varsity athlete. I balance between football, basketball, track, my family and personal life. From the early stages, I have taken on a leadership role. I have been driven to give 100% effort in all I do, no matter how I perform. With high standards set, I made a promise to my parents and myself to maintain a 3.5 GPA or higher, which I am keeping! In my experience as a high school student athlete you are faced with choices every day. Making good decisions becomes very important along with having a positive attitude and giving encouragement to others. We all make mistakes on the field, court and classroom. Facing adversity is a big part of life and athletics. Things will not always go your way, how one handles that is what makes the difference. I try to learn from my mistakes, accept them, and move forward. I have confidence in myself to achieve all my goals. However, I value team efforts and team concepts, as all athletics need team support to become successful. I welcome the opportunity to compete and learn from experienced upperclassmen to make myself a better person and athlete. My charterer is of good nature. I trust, respect others and value friendships. I put great effort in setting good examples on the field, court and classroom to the younger student athletes in my community. I have taken the ACT test early and scored a 23, I am not satisfied with that score. I will retake the test in March 2015. I am NCAA registered, I am Brett Pero.
