Sean Smith '09 Recruiting Profile

My name is Sean Smith and I am a senior at Colts Neck High School in New Jersey. I have been competing in sports since I was 6 and I am from a family of football lovers, which has made me a student of the game. My Uncle Pat coached at Sayerville High School and was Brandon Hoyte's (2005 Notre Dame Defensive Captain) Linebacker and QB coach there. He also coached me in Pop-Warner with my dad. Brandon has worked with me the past few summers also. In the summers I work at several high school football camps where I help coach players that are getting ready to go into high school. My dad and I also coach my little brother in Pop-Warner. I have 3 very close cousins that coach high school football here in New Jersey; one at Sayerville, one at Woodbridge, and one at Bishop Ahr, so basically football is a big part of my life and I look forward to competing at the next level and then I plan to coach the game after that. This is my third year as a starter at outside linebacker on varsity. I was brought up to Varsity as a receiver my Freshman year and ended up playing outside linebacker that year as well. My team is in the group 4 level(Largest in NJ) and we have made the state play-offs the last 4 years. Last year I led the team in tackles, forced fumbles and sacks. I also won our teams "Hardest Hitter" award and Defensive MVP. We were also ranked one of the top defenses in the Jersey Shore. I currently carry a 3.1 GPA. I scored a 1020 on my 2 part SAT exam. I would like to attend a school that will allow me to go on and become a teacher and to coach football as well. I would also like to study business, so I can start and run my own business. I am a very hard working athlete and I have always been taught to be a leader.
