Holiday Classic 2...
100 Breaststroke ...Hi coaches! My name is Lauren Zeni, and I am sixteen years old and am a member of the YMCA of Greater Monmouth County swim team, or formerly known as the Red Bank YMCA. I have been swimming since I was seven years old, and have loved the sport ever since the day I started. Swimming has taught me multiple important concepts including hard work, dedication, and commitment, all of which are skills that I will need for the rest of my swimming career and will help me succeed in life.
My main events throughout my swimming career have always been breaststroke, specifically the 100 and 200 yard breaststroke. Countless hours of training have led me to be able to compete at several different levels and qualify for different meets, whether that be at Junior Olympics, State Championships, New Jersey Zones, or YMCA nationals. I am hoping to continue to improve throughout the remainder of my YMCA swimming career, while being able to pursue a swimming career that allows me to do the same at the collegiate level.
I am currently a sophomore at Colts Neck High School in Monmouth County, New Jersey. I am enrolled in a variety of honors and AP courses, which I also plan on taking throughout the rest of high school. These classes are very helpful as I am transitioning into a heavier workload, and soon college courses that will be easier to manage with advanced courses. In college, I am hoping to study education, while attending a school that can challenge me at an academic and athletic standpoint. Swimming in college while balancing a heavy workload with school has always been a goal of mine, and I am excited for the opportunities that come with that and what the future holds athletically and academically.
