Matthew Kim '26 Recruiting Profile

Hello my name is Matthew kim. I participate in 3 Highschool sports Football,wrestling,lacrosse. The reason why I had chose football is because during 2022 covid year I was overweight and not motivated to do any sports. Then a friend suggested that I should tryout the sport football. After 1 season of this sport I had fell in love with football and started to dedicate myself toward sports that would help me in football such as wrestling which would help with my endurance and building a wrestling mindset to not quit during hard times. I had tried out lacrosse to work on my stamina. My achievements in these 3 sports are I had a successful season in my first year of Highschool football by winning a league title for our freshman league and playing junior varsity. The varsity had won a state championship also. I had wrestled varsity in the state semi finals against the number 8 ranked wrestler in the state. I had placed 4th in freshman counties in bergen county for the weight class of 285. My goal is to be able to start varsity next year in football as a sophomore. My long term goal is to play division 1 football in college and make it to the nfl. I would accomplish this goal by working hard in the off season and during the season. Go to college camps and learn and receive advice from college coaches. I am passionate about this sport because football had helped my life and gave me a new motive on what i would like to do for my future career. I think I am different from other recruits because I take criticism as something that would help me become better, I am a hardworking person and would listen to anything coaches would want me to do, I will never talk back to a coach and let my personal emotions get in my way. This sport has given me a new life and I am committed to do anything it would take to be able to achieve my goals.
